Asian Movie

Who in this world has never heard of or at least watched an Asian movie either from the late 80's or from the 21st century? Come on, one can see an Asian movie in almost every movie store. With the popularity of certain Asian movie icons such as Bruce "The Dragon" Lee, Jackie Chan, Chow Yun Fat, Jet Li, Gong Li, and many other Li's or what have you, it's impossible to not have heard of any Asian movie at all!

Elements that make an Asian movie unique

Perhaps it is the extraordinary fighting style such as Kung Fu or Wushu that has made various types of Asian movie a favorite of many; or at least the topic of discussions in many parts of the world. Where else would you see flying martial arts guys in silk robes with braids, girls in long gowns with long pointy spears, and not to mention the beyond belief hand movements in movie climaxes? Only in an Asian movie, that's for sure. Throughout the years, the West has been left baffled by the technicalities and intricacy of Asian movie elements. It is impossible for a Western actor to capture the same sense of awe whenever he does a dragon fist as compared to when an Asian actor performs it. It's just not the same deal.

An Asian movie can't be considered one unless the main roles are portrayed by Asian actors. Besides, despite the many attempts of foreigners to imitate the fight scenes and plot, the public never fails to say, "it's just not the same." Well, a rendition of an Asian movie by a Western producer and cast may make a spinoff eventually but it's almost hard to deliver the same impact.

Types of Asian movie

In any case, Asian movie is not to be limited only to the martial artsy type of film. There's more to an Asian movie than just those where you see god-like men fighting over some damsel in distress with a hint of filial justice and regaining one's honor. There's also the unsung treasures of the Orient seas coming from Southeast Asia, East Asia, and all other parts of Asia. Worth mentioning is the Indian movie scene where Bollywood is considered prime. Bollywood movies have captured the hearts of international movie goers and guess what, it's still Asian. Japanese movies, Thai movies, Filipino movies, Indonesian movies, Sri Lankan movies, and Bahraini movies, are still examples of an Asian movie. What the world did was to discount everything else that matters or qualifies as Asian and focused merely on the Chinese action movies. Indeed, these movies are under the Asian movie category.

If you love watching an Asian movie, there are various video stores both online and offline that offer Asian movie CDs and DVDs.
